JOIN OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Swiss United Church of Christ welcomes all people to its services and invites all those who wish to follow the path of Jesus Christ to its Communion table.

For those who wish to join us in formal membership, we welcome you. We do ask that those joining the church be baptized Christians. If you have not been baptized and wish to do so, you may participate either in a Sacrament of Baptism service with the congregation or in a private baptism with the pastor. Most people who join our congregation were baptized as infants or children and we recognize the baptisms of any Christian denomination.

Requirements for membership include a “letter of transfer” from another Christian congregation, graduation from the Confirmation Class of Swiss UCC, or a “profession of faith,” which, basically, means one answers affirmatively to the question “Do you desire to follow the path of Jesus Christ through membership in this congregation?”

Our congregation is a part of the national United Church of Christ, a Christian denomination that traces its history to the Pilgrims in the 17th century. The UCC is a denomination of approximately one million members who worship in more than 5,000 congregations. The UCC is generally considered to be on the “liberal” end of the theological spectrum and has been a champion of civil rights and gay and lesbian rights. Swiss UCC is an “Open and Affirming” church, which means we do not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, national origin or sexual orientation.

If you are interested in membership in Swiss United Church of Christ, please speak to the pastor.
