About us
Swiss United Church of Christ is an open and welcoming congregation that celebrates the joy of spirituality and family unity.
Swiss United Church of Christ dates back to 1850 when Swiss settlers in the area formed themselves into a faith community. The earliest church building provided a home where worship was at the heart of life and living.
The Church and Sunday School building are situated on the town square and invites all to visit, tour the church, or stop for moments of reflection.
The United Church of Christ
is one of the newest denominations in the country, yet its churches go back to the origins of our country. Visit Hans-the UCC Answer Guy for a YouTube video that will tell you who we are and where we came from as a denomination. (Use your browser's "back" function to return to this web page.)
We believe that God is still speaking and we invite all who are seeking a spiritual foundation for living to join with us. The easiest way to get to know us is to visit us at any of our worship services. You will find a warm welcome and an inviting spirit. You can also gain a sense for who we are as UCC folk by visiting a Celebrating Who We Are video. These videos will rotate montly so check back for new content.
Take a look at UCC101 for a five minute introduction to who we are as a denomination.
It is important to know that all congregations of the United Church of Christ are locally autonomous. We call our own pastors and govern our own congregational life. At Swiss Church we are governed by a "Consistory" that is responsible to the congregation. In other words... every local congregation is unique.
